Our Mission

Our focus is on helping underprivileged children and families become self-sufficient and live in a dignified manner. Our immediate priority is to ensure that they are healthy and enjoy adequate living conditions, but beyond that, we work to provide them with the education, opportunities and hope they need in order to break the cycle of poverty that afflicts them. We believe in providing the hungry with a fish to eat so that they can get through the day, but more importantly, we assist them in learning how to fish so that they can feed themselves for life and provide a better tomorrow for their families.

We help impoverished, orphaned, abandoned, and single-parented children work toward and accomplish ambitious goals in their lives; goals that will propel them beyond their current situations. It is they who will build the future, and we know they can make the future a brighter one. Their success is the common goal that we all share and strive for. We work alongside these children and families, as friends and equals, so that they can rise beyond poverty and one day they can be the ones in a position to help others.

When you give,

your generous tax–deductible donation will contribute to increase the number of children benefited.

British Journalist Visits Villa Hermosa

The main “road” in Villa Hermosa as Gaia saw it during her visit

Recently, we were contacted by Gaia Vince, a British journalist, who was interested in visiting Villa Hermosa. She is traveling around the world documenting environmental and social development issues. Having previously traveled through Asia and Africa, she currently finds herself in South America. When she heard about the hardship in Villa Hermosa as well as what we are doing to help, she felt that this would be a great place for her to visit. Gaia has previously written for BBC, The Guardian, New Scientist, Science, and Seed. These publications, as well as others, have published her work related to this journey.

Gaia visited the community of Villa Hermosa on October 27, 2010, along with her photographer and partner, Nick. Our volunteer in Colombia, Jaidith Tawill, took the two to visit Villa Hermosa and get a firsthand look at the difficulties being faced there as well as what is being done to help these people.
